Flame Health Optometry - Research Optometrist Job - Ireland
Flame Health is proud to be working in conjunction with one of the worlds leading suppliers of eye health products, to find a research optometrist for a 9-12 month contract.
 
The company was founded in the 1800’s and now employs over 12,000 employees based in 36 countries and specialises in medical technology which is sub divided into the areas of vision care, pharmaceuticals and surgical. 
 
As a research optometrist you will be employed on a 9-12 month contract at their site in Southern Ireland reporting to the Director of Clinical Affairs with the remit to design, co-ordinate and conduct contact lens research studies in order to analyse and report on your findings.
 
Your key responsibilities will be to:
 
  • Review, analyses and interpret data and draw conclusions which lead to planning further research
  • Thoroughly evaluate potential new products to ensure they meet the proposed clinical requirements
  • Contribute in the origination and/or direction of experiments through the development of methodologies
  • Develop clinical protocols for clinical studies
  • Stay abreast of current literature and competitive product offerings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager
 The ideal candidate will be a fully qualified optometrist with previous experience in clinical research of contact lens products or vision science.
 
The following competencies will also be advantageous:
 
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office (particularly Outlook and Excel) is required
  • Understanding of statistics required and a working knowledge of a statistical package is preferred
  • It is essential to be able to travel
  • Individual must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be objective and maintain independence at the same time build trusting relationships
  • Capable of building relationships at all levels and locations within the organisation
  • High energy with commitment to clinical trial closure and delivery
